The Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative and Sarcoma Oncology Center is pleased to announce the publication of the ESUN Guide for the Newly Diagnosed, a collection of articles that will empower and encourage those who are new to sarcoma.

With more patients surviving cancer than ever before, ASCO today released a new publication to help patients adjust to life after active cancer treatment. This free booklet, based on content from ASCO's patient information website, Cancer.Net, helps people understand what to expect as treatment is completed, explains common challenges faced by survivors, and offers suggestions for next steps following treatment.

"The clowns made me do it! that's my story and I'm sticking to it." (sarcoma survivor)

These walks which were held in three major cities on the same day – New York, Los Angeles and Miami –
were created and organized by Ali, Matt and Jackie Landes, to support their mom, who has a rare form of cancer, called Liposarcoma. She is currently undergoing treatment as part of a clinical trial. To date, the disease can be treated, but not cured. Because of the rarity of this cancer, the cure depends solely on new research. Sarcoma researchers must rely primarily on private funding, because government funds are used for
more well-known cancers.

Your generous donations helped us raise not only awareness of Liposarcoma and but more than $225,000 for research.

The Wendy Walk, Los Angeles took place on the Santa Monica beach. We walked along the shore from Beach Park to the Santa Monica Pier and back. Afterwards, we gathered for some light refreshments.

Beach Park is located right along the Santa Monica beach, between Hart Ave. and Ocean Park Blvd., where Ocean Ave. becomes Barnard Way. Click here to see a map.

A donation of at least $50 per person was required to participate. If you could not make it, but would like to donate, we would be very grateful.

Click here to register for the walk or make a donation.
